Boro's First Away Win Of Season!

Claire Bowdler was jumping for joy last night at Glanford Park, Scunthorpe and jotted down these notes to share out her joy with all the Boro fans that couldn’t make the game.

What a good away trip.

The Boro fans were in fine voice from the start. Boro started with a 4-5-1 formation and altered to a 4-3-3 when on the counter attack. The system worked well, Boro’s first goal came from down the left young with Joe Bennett ending his surge down the flank with a fine cross for Boyd to hammer home.

Scott McDonald was winning a lot of free kicks and capped a hard working first half display with a great curling goal from about 20 yards. What a strike!

Bates looked so impressive bringing the ball out of defence and driving the team on. I do prefer him at centre back.

The team that has struggled to score one goal away from home this season finally clicked and scored not one but TWO goals!

We were under the cosh in the second half, but we weathered the storm. Wheater and Bates were heading everything clear and when they didn’t young Jason Steele made some crucial saves. It was nice to see O’Neil back and I thought he got better as the game went on. What an encouraging team performance. There all put a shift in. All in all it was a good team effort, a real togetherness with the squad all battling together, showing appreciation to each other for crucial inceptions and clearances.

Not a bad 2 weeks in charge for Mogga, 6 pts out of 9. Fans, players, club, all showing signs of being reunited and of course Boro’s first away win of the season. Finally scoring goals goals away and keeping a precious clean sheet. What a night!

Passion, and pride has been restored. It has been a while now; I came away last night thinking I’ve got my proper football team back. Yes, plenty to work on. At long last I am once again able to write so positively about the Boro so that’s all I’m going to write about.

We’re Middlesbrough, We’re Middlesbrough, Everywhere we go we will let people know - we’re Middlesbrough!

Tony Mowbray's Red and White Army!

Great away trip, Great away support, Proud to be a Boro fan. Up The Boro!
